Trainer competency assessment

Reed Learning’s Training Delivery Competency Framework is the standard by which we recruit and performance manage all our trainers. Overseen by our academic board, this model ensures consistent quality to our clients. The framework is made up of six competencies:

  1. Building rapport
  2. Delegate learning and development
  3. Group management
  4. Trainer presence and authority
  5. Session structure
  6. Facilitation techniques

We use these competencies as a benchmark both when recruiting associate trainers, and to regularly observe all our trainers against. We have selected a pool of 20 trained observers from across the business who spend half a day a month assessing trainers and courses. The observations are primarily to give support, clarity of expectations and developmental feedback to trainers. However, they also flag up any concerns about the trainers style, materials or the course content which can then be resolved by the Quality Manager.
