FAQs

When do the courses start and end?

Delegates need to arrive at 9am or 9.15am depending on the course – you will be advised of the exact time in your joining instructions. In the first half-hour, you’ll register and get a chance to meet your fellow delegates over coffee and biscuits.

Courses start at 9.30am or 9.45am – again, your course confirmation pack will detail exact timings. Lunch is provided with all our courses – there is a one hour lunch break scheduled between 12.00 noon and 2.00pm. Refreshments are served throughout the day. Courses finish by 5.00pm and you’ll leave with a full course pack.

What is the dress code?

There is no dress code for Reed Learning courses. The courses are meant to be fun and relaxing as well as giving you the best training. Most people who attend our courses feel most comfortable in business casual clothing.

How many people are there on a course?

We strictly limit delegate numbers to ensure each delegate receives the best training possible, but it does vary course to course. The maximum group size ranges from 6 to 14, and the average in 2010 was 8 people.

What happens if someone needs to contact me?

Call free on 0800 170 7777, and the message will be passed on to the relevant people at the training centre. In an emergency the session will be interrupted, otherwise you will be given your message in the break.

Is lunch provided?

Yes, don't worry - we provide lunch inclusive with all our courses. Depending on course requirements, you will either be

- taken to a local restaurant,

- served a delicious buffet lunch in the training centre,

- given £5 food vouchers valid at many local shops & cafes (including Pret, Eat, Starbucks, Sainsburys, Tescos, Burger King, KFC, Bella Italia, Caffe Uno, Greggs, Wetherspoons, Bagel factory)

I have special dietary requirements

If you have special dietary requirements, please notify our team on 0800 170 7777 or by email to more.info@reedlearning.co.uk with exact details before the course and we will do everything we can to accommodate you.

Do I need an in-company or a public course?

Public courses enable individuals with specific training needs from different backgrounds to pay a one off fee to come and learn at one of our centres. They allow people to share experiences, network and learn with people from a variety of different industries and backgrounds.

In-Company / In-House Courses can be more cost-effective if you need to train a number of people in the same skills. However, cost is not the only consideration when booking training, so sometimes it may be better for you to spend more on staff attending public courses, for the reasons above.

Tailored courses allow you to have specialist analysis and development to support your unique business need and situation. We can:

• Design unique courses from scratch for you
• Customise or combine existing course content for optimum results
• Include particular methods and styles of training, to best suit their teams and individuals
• Incorporate their company standards, templates and case-studies for optimum relevance

What we offer is all of this delivered at the right time, to the right people, in the right format all at the right location for you and your people.

Who delivers the training?

All of our courses are delivered by a team of highly qualified, experienced and specialist trainers, both associates and permanent members of staff.   They come from a range of backgrounds specific to the relevant industry and area of expertise.

Reed Learning have a stringent selection process; in order for a trainer to become a member of the Reed Learning faculty, they must pass a series of professional interviews and tests, providing extensive references.  This process ensures we have only the highest quality of trainers, and the happiest of clients.

To become a Reed Learning trainer, you must demonstrate both cutting edge experience in your specialist field and exemplary presentation skills.

What makes your trainers so special?

We love our trainers - no really!

We know that our people are our strength so we like to nurture and cherish them.  Both our permanent trainers and faculty members are experts in their respective fields, and the overall quality of our training is in the capable hands of an independent standards board made up of education leaders from Aston Business School, the West London Academy and the University of the Arts, who constantly drive our rigorous standards forward, maintaining excellence across all areas of our broad expertise.

Plus we do nice things, like have our annual training faculty awards where we reward excellent performance, and encourage studying for further qualifications.

All this means that you will feel the difference when you come to a Reed Learning course - our trainers like working here, and it really shows.

Is there parking?

Central London – the nearest car park is in Drury Lane. This NCP car park is £30 per day, and does not include the congestion charge. We do not recommend driving to the venue.

How do I book a public course?

There are three ways to book a public course:

Online:
We like to keep it simple: browse or search for a course, view details, then click book now.  The course will be added to your basket.
Continue shopping for more items, or go to your basket by clicking the ‘View Basket’ icon in the green header (top right).
At your basket page you can add delegates, select the right date, and book or save for later (if you’re logged in).  You can also add extras like MP3 modules.
When you’re happy with your purchase, just click ‘book’ and follow the instructions to pay by credit card or invoice.

Over the phone:
Call our friendly customer service team free on 0800 170 7777, and they’ll do the hard work for you.  It helps if you have the code of the course you are interested in, but it’s not necessary.

By email:
Just email us at more.info@reedlearning.co.uk with your name, phone number, company name and address, course name (or code) & date you want to book, plus the name of the delegate if it’s not you.  We’ll contact you to confirm payment and dates.

What payment methods do you accept?

We are flexible about methods of payment – we take VISA, Mastercard, Maestro or Switch both online and over the phone.

We are happy to set up new clients with an invoice account subject to credit check.  This usually takes 48 hours and you can apply online by adding courses to your basket and selecting this option when you book.  We will hold the course place whilst we confirm your details and perform the credit check.

We are also happy to accept cheque payment providing the amount has cleared prior to the date of the course.  Please note that if we have not received cleared funds by the start date we reserve the right to refuse admission.

Please note, by clicking book you agree to our terms and conditions - view them here >

How do I know what level the course is?

All of our course outlines are available online at www.reedlearning.co.uk/training or in our Learning Directory (you can download the PDF here).
At the top of each course page is a ‘who is it for?’ section describing the kind of people who go on this course – this information and the course outline should help you identify if the course is the right level for you.

Alternatively you can use our advanced search function to search only for courses at a beginner, intermediate or advanced level.

If you're looking for an IT course, our online IT tests ought to give you a hand - find your level now

What are you doing to make the world a better place?

Our environment
In 2005, Reed became the UK's first major recruitment company to go CarbonNeutral™. As a group, Reed produced 4,208 tonnes of Carbon in 2004 and this is now being offset through investment in forestry projects throughout the UK.
Learn more about CarbonNeutral >

Trying to be greener
We were the first company to introduce public training courses showing business how to be more environmentally friendly in 2007.

We practise what we preach, too:
- We have reduced the quantity of paper based direct marketing.  We can't replace it entirely, but we encourage people to sign up for email and web marketing so we use fewer trees
- All our marketing is printed on FSC certified paper from renewable forests by ISO14001 printers using vegetable based inks
- All our training materials are printed on 100% post-use recycled paper
- We use motion sensors and individual light switches in our training centre and head office to cut down on wasted energy
- We honour the Reed employee who makes the most significant green shift both at work and home in a yearly award ceremony to encourage eco-friendly behaviour and ideas

To help you do more at your workplace, why don't you visit www.reedlearning.co.uk/green, and see how the courses could benefit you.

Giving back to the community
We regularly take part in charitable events and make donations in the process.  We've raised money for Samaritans, Red Nose Day, & Children in Need, to name a few.

Last year our chosen charity was Marie Curie - we held a variety of events to raise money for this fantastic cause.
This year our chosen charity is Great Ormond Street.

We also look to sponsor causes we really believe in:

Campaign for learning’s Learning at Work day with over £1000 training donated free in support

Comic Relief’s Adult Learners Week celebrations with over £1000 training donated at no cost to the charity.
